Hackney Winter Night Shelter is delighted to announce that Andrea Daniels has been appointed as Chair of the Board of Trustees of Hackney Doorways, the Charity that operates the night shelter.  Three new trustees also join the Board:  Alexandra Cole (Treasurer), Ali Walker and Kathy Meade,

Andrea has been a trustee of Hackney Doorways since 2016 and has a background in marketing and communications, most recently being Director of Marketing and Digital at the British Council.

The new trustees bring with them a range of different skills and expertise.  Alex is a qualified accountant, currently employed at HM Treasury, and Kathy a housing lawyer, works at one of the largest homeless charities, Shelter.  Ali has wide ranging experience in fundraising, with a focus on digital.

Incoming Chair, Andrea, commented:  “It is an honour to be appointed as Chair of this fantastic local charity, which has a genuine community ethos and with which I have been involved both as a trustee and a volunteer.  I’m looking forward to continuing to develop and strengthen our work with homeless people ensuring that we meet not only their immediate need for emergency accommodation and support, but to develop and offer more routes out of homelessness for everyone that turns to us for help.”

Andrew Hudson who has been Chair of the trustee board for five years, has now moved on to take up a new trustee role at the Centre for Homelessness Impact.  The outgoing Chair who will be missed by the Charity said:  "It's been a privilege to chair Hackney Doorways for over four years, and I'd like to thank the staff and volunteers for all their help.  I'm sure the organisation will thrive with Andrea Daniels as Chair and a new board.”

Sarah Watson who has been the charity treasurer for four years has also stepped down, having recently moved away from the borough.
