House of Hackney, the Shoreditch-based well-loved designer fabric and furnishings store, helped to raise funds for Hackney Winter Night Shelter by donating their Sample Sale ticket entry fees.

An incredible £2,421 was raised from the event, which we will put towards providing a safe space to sleep and nutritious meals for our winter guests, who would otherwise be sleeping rough.

Two Night Shelter Advocate Workers endeavour to find more stable accommodation for every one of our guests, and some of this money will also help those who move into a new home to buy essential household items and equipment.

On making this donation, House of Hackney founders, Frieda Gormley and Javvy M Royle, said:  “We are so pleased to be able to support the very important work of Hackney Winter Night Shelter.  With homelessness in Hackney reportedly on the rise, the dedicated efforts of this organisation are more important than ever.”

Christina Ball, Shelter Manager, commented:  “We are so grateful to House of Hackney and other people and businesses in the Hackney community who this year have truly pulled together to support some of the most vulnerable local people.  These donations make such an enormous difference to the operation of the night shelter and our guests as they start to rebuild their lives.”
