Hackney Winter Night Shelter (HWNS) provides shelter for homeless people in Hackney during the winter – and year round support to help guests find housing.

The season runs from 1 November to the end of March.

Hackney Winter Night Shelter takes to the streets for first half marathon

Hackney Winter Night Shelter has made history with a team of 22 half-marathon runners who  joined the thousands streaming through Hackney’s streets on 22 June in the borough’s first ever half marathon. The Hackney Winter Night Shelter 2013/2014 season is now over and we’ve taken stock of our achievements.

IT Administrator Needed!

Hackney Doorways are looking for a volunteer to help in this important role, if you have the necessary skills to spare a couple of hours a week please look at the job description and apply here.

We are looking forward to receiving applications, including for parts of this job spec (if you can offer some time or have the expertise to do some tasks but not others.) What’s happening at the shelter now?

The shelter is now closed, but our Link Worker will continue to work with people to provide support for those who we have helped to move into accommodation. We will reopen in November.
