Hackney Winter Night Shelter

Join our mailing list

Hackney Winter Night Shelter provides a hot meal and a warm bed for homeless guests who would otherwise be out on the streets during the coldest winter months.

Our vision is for a route out of homeless for everyone in need in Hackney, so we offer this alongside professional and holistic support to help our guests rebuild their lives.

We can only do this with your support. Please donate now, become a volunteer and read our latest news.

The shelter is now open

Hackney Winter Night Shelter is recruiting  coordinators

We are recruiting volunteer coordinators for our coming Winter Season to assist us on Tuesday, Friday or Saturday nights. The coordinators have prime responsibility for running the Shelter on their particular evening, usually as part of a small team.

If you would like to apply, please read the role requirements and person specification, fill out an application form and email it to volunteer@hwns.org.uk. If you have any questions about the role please email volunteer@hwns.org.uk.

Belter for the Shelter a huge success

Belter for the Shelter poster 2016

Our third Belter for the Shelter comedy night at the Hackney Empire in February saw headline act Stewart Lee and host Daniel Kitson entertain a full house, raising vital funds for Hackney Winter Night Shelter to support homelessness people in Hackney.

The amazing line-up featured Stewart Lee, Earl Okin, Lewis Schaffer, Francesca Martinez, Sofie Hagen and James Acaster and the money raised will help us continue to offer a hot meal, bed and breakfast to 25 guests a night up to the end of March, while supporting them to find more stable accommodation.

We couldn’t have done it without you! To see how much we raised, keep an eye our news page and Twitter.
