Hackney Winter Night Shelter

Join our mailing list

Hackney Winter Night Shelter provides a hot meal and a warm bed for homeless guests who would otherwise be out on the streets during the coldest winter months.

The shelter opened on Monday 3 November 2014 and runs to 1 April 2015.

During the season we work with more than 80 guests and throughout the year our link workers continue to assist them with finding more stable accommodation.

We can only do this with your support. Please donate now, become a volunteer and read our latest news.

Come and hear the Hackney Singers in the St Peter’s de Beauvoir, Northchurch Terrace, London N1 4DA.  Christmas Concert this Friday 19th December.  The concert will be starting at 7.30 pm and there will be collection in aid of the Hackney Winter Night Shelter and the Islington Night Shelter.

Legal clinic founder wins Pro Bono Award

Hackney Winter Night Shelter (HWNS) volunteer and lawyer, Monika Sobiecki, has won the prestigious 2014 Sydney Elland Goldsmith Bar Council Pro Bono Award.

The award recognised Monika’s work setting up the HWNS legal clinic, which provides free advice to some of the most destitute members of society; and her volunteering through the Employment Lawyers Association ’100 Days Project’ to represent a vulnerable client in a complex ten-day disability discrimination case against a well-known retail brand.
